Camp Leadership
Are you interested in becoming a camp leader?
It’s only through the help of our amazing team of volunteer leaders that we can create such an enriching experience on our youth camps. We are currently seeking leaders for all camps in 2024.
Application Process
Make sure you are old enough to lead. Before you can start your leadership journey with us, we have a minimum age requirement of 15 for Junior Ichthus, and a minimum age requirement of 18 for Senior Ichthus. We don’t have a maximum age limit, so all ages are encouraged and welcomed to apply!
Understand AYCF’s expectations and what the camp leadership role looks like. Familiarise yourself with our expectations and your responsibilites by reading through the Leader Role Description. Please ensure you understand your role and the level of commitment involved.
Understand the screening and induction process for all new leaders, which is outlined below. We are committed to the safety of all our campers in all aspects of their wellbeing, and thus we have a comprehensive child safety screening process.

Applicant Screening
If you have not led on an AYCF camp before, you will be expected to complete the leader induction package. This includes the following screening processes to ensure the safety of yourself and all our campers. The Camp Coordinator will be more than happy to help guide you through or explain the process in more detail, however if you are unable to complete it, we are unable to accept you onto our leadership team. You must complete the following:
The Anglican Church Southern Queensland Safe Ministry Check. You should complete this ahead of time and submit it directly to Elissa Cotroneo at elissa.cotroneo@ministryeducation.org.au.
Hold a current positive notice Blue Card. It is a legal requirement for all volunteers in child-related settings to hold a current Blue Card while attending camp. If you don’t have one, a Volunteer Blue Card is free and takes around 28 days to process. Please indicate accordingly on your application so the paperwork process can be started ASAP.
Complete the free online ACSQ Child Protection Training Course. This will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. At the end, you will receive a certificate of completion - please email this certificate directly to Elissa at elissa.cotroneo@ministryeducation.org.au.

Please review the specific camp dates of each Ichthus Camp below before completing an application form. You are required to be available for all of the training and camp dates. Make sure you are available before applying to lead on a specific camp.
Senior Ichthus 2024
First Team Meeting: Thursday 9th of May 2024, 6pm to 9pm
Training Day 1: Saturday 25th of May 2024, 9am to 4pm
Training Day 2: Saturday 8th of June 2024, 9am to 4pm
Leader Day: Sunday 23rd of June 2024
Camp Dates: Monday 24th of June - Friday 28th of June 2024
Junior ichthus 2024
First Team Meeting: Thursday 8th of August 2024, 6pm to 9pm
Training Day 1: Saturday 24th of August 2024, 9am to 4pm
Training Day 2: Saturday 7th of September 2024, 9am to 4pm
Leader Day: Sunday 22nd of September 2024
Camp Dates: Monday 23rd of September - Thursday 26th of September 2024
Please Note
If you have not led on an Ichthus Camp in the past two years, please fill out the form for new leaders. All sections of these forms must be completed. If you do not receive confirmation of your application within a week, please contact Elissa directly at elissa.cotroneo@ministryeducation.org.au. You must be at least 15 years old to begin your leadership journey with us on Junior Ichthus and at least 18 years old to begin leading on Senior Ichthus.

Payment Plans
Payment plans are readily available for all leaders and we also encourage leaders to have a chat with their local church about potential sponsorship. Get in touch with the Camp Coordinator to have a conversation about your payment options.
Camp Cooking
Support our valuable camping ministry, cook and eat delicious food, foster community connections and have heaps of fun while you're at it! Can you get involved?
We want to keep camps affordable for every family. Often, the only way we can achieve this is through amazing volunteers who generously give their time and skills to cook for our camps. Camp cooking is it's own ministry that directly supports everyone else on camp to create spaces that foster the faith of our young people.
